WindEurope Headquarters
Rue d’Arlon, 80 – Brussels
The rapid growth of the wind industry has brought to 1.1 million employees in the sector worldwide. 330,000 of them are in Europe. If wind energy companies are to meet their growth targets in the coming years the industry is facing a shortage of 7,000 qualified personnel.. According to IRENA’s estimations from 2016 this could reach 15,000 by 2030. Most of the skilled people will be needed in operations and maintenance (O&M) and health and safety.
How can education and training help fill this gap in O&M and health and safety? What education and training is needed to ensure first-class workers to sustain the industry’s growth?
At this workshop education and training experts in the wind industry and representatives of the European institutions will address these challenges.
The workshop is hosted by the EU-funded project SKILLWIND.
SKILLWIND’s main goal is to standardize the O&M training structure via the integration of Global Wind Organization (GWO) modules for health and safety, and innovative training tools such as an app for smart phones.
